GAITHER - Alaskan Homecoming & Majesty
Come along on an Alaskan cruise with the Gaither Homecoming Family aboard the MS Zaandam
in Alaska's Endicott Bay. These two DVDs feature an outdoor concert event with high quality
recordings of the sights and sounds of this Homecoming gathering, as filmed on the deck of the
ship. Featuring some of today's top Gospel singers, such as the Gaither Vocal Band, the
Hoppers, Russ Taff, the Isaacs and Gordon Mote, these DVDs go beyond the music, giving rare
glimpses of off-stage moments of fun and stories.
As with all Homecoming projects, these CDs and DVDs feature a lot of songs, with 18 on the
"Majesty" CD and 20 on "Alaskan Homecoming." The Homecoming family features many great
names in Gospel music, and with the sheer number of songs, many are given a well-deserved
spotlight for a song or two. The Gaither Vocal Band sings several songs, with a fun rendition of
"My Lord And I" on "Majesty" and their popular radio single "Better Day" on "Alaskan
Homecoming."
One of the fun aspects of the Homecoming projects is their ability to match various musicians
together for unusual but powerful combinations in addition to the moving ensemble pieces. "His
Eye Is On The Sparrow" is a moving song which features Lynda Randle, David Phelps and
Reggie Smith. "I See A Crimson Stream" showcases the talents of Janet Paschal, Charlotte
Ritchie and Sheri Easter with another strong, emotional song.
Also included on these DVDs is a special segment remembering Anthony Burger and the events
surrounding his passing at age 44 on the Gaither 2006 cruise aboard the MS Zuiderdam.
"Majesty" and "Alaskan Homecoming" praise our Creator and celebrate some of His most
marvelous creation through Gospel music's finest voices.
