GAITHER - Celebration!
Gaither Homecoming Celebration takes audiences back to a phenomenal live concert event from
1998 filled with great songs and memories. Bill Gaither describes it by saying, "This never-
before-released footage from the Homecoming vault takes us back to one exciting celebration at
the Charlotte Coliseum back in 1998 where many of our favorite legendary artists were still with
us." Bill hosts this treasure of a DVD, sharing with us the preserved voices of some of the heroes
of Southern Gospel music. This project features performances by favorite artists who have now
passed on including Jake Hess, Bob Cain, Howard and Vestal Goodman, Anthony Burger and
Jessy Dixon. It also contains songs from the Gaither Vocal Band, Janet Paschal, Carmen, the
Martins and Candy Christmas.
Jake Hess's timeless voice shines through a medley of classic songs, backed up by a wonderful
choir. Bob Cain's performance includes a segment that showcases his skill as a trumpet player as
well as a singer. The DVD provides a retrospective of the recorded career of the Happy
Goodmans, told through old video and song, before Howard and Vestal Goodman, along with
Johnny Minick, sing a medley and their iconic rendition of "I Wouldn't Take Nothing For My
Journey Now," the latter backed up by Joyce Martin, Jessy Dixon and Bill Gaither. The final
song on the video is a grand celebration medley featuring all the Homecoming Friends. As
balloons rain from the Coliseum's roof, every singer puts forth a tremendous performance in this
climactic ensemble song. Reminding viewers of these iconic heroes of Southern Gospel and
taking audiences back to 1998, the Gaither Homecoming Celebration is a wonderful live
performance that we're blessed to uncover from the Homecoming vault.
