FREEDOM SINGERS / PRICE OF FREEDOM BOOK |
Two members of the trio known as Freedom Singers, Simon Ivascu and Wesley Pop, tell their amazing true story of courage and faith in the face of great danger in their true-life adventure, "The Price Of Freedom." Determined to escape to freedom, Simon and Wesley faced unexpected danger and hardship fleeing from Romania to Italy. But their nightmare began in earnest when, in their desperation to escape, they crawled into a container full of ceramic tiles that was headed across the ocean to an unknown destination. Baking in the heat for days in a shipyard, surviving a tremendous storm at sea, suffering from lack of oxygen and then the agony of thirst, Simon and Wesley both came close to death. "The Price Of Freedom" is the miraculous story of how these two young men clung tenaciously to their faith in God as they struggled to survive against all odds. It is a story of courage and faith in the face of great danger. This compelling story will keep you on the edge of your seat, as you travel with them through stormy waters, in unknown territory, through fear and desperate want, with nothing to trust but their faith in Jesus Christ.

FREEDOM SINGERS - The Price Of Freedom book and Enjoy The Lord CD
The Freedom Singers, Simon, Stefan, and Wesley, are an engaging Southern Gospel trio of
Romanian-Canadians with a true passion for Christ. With unexpected popularity first in Canada
and now in the United States, these remarkable men have released an excellent book, as well as a
great new album of Southern Gospel music in their own distinctive style.
"The Price Of Freedom," the book written by Simon Ivascu and Wesley Pop of the group, tells
their remarkable true story of freedom. This amazing testimony reveals and celebrates God's
miraculous presence in their lives as they escaped religious persecution in Romania. Fleeing
Europe, God's hand was keeping them safe and alive, and this story is a marvelous reminder of
His great faith and mercy to us in even the toughest times.
Once arriving in Canada, the duo grappled with additional problems before gaining "landed
immigrant status" and true freedom. In 2003 they formed the Freedom Singers, which has now
become a trio, and recently they released a new album called "Enjoy The Lord." Featuring twelve
songs, including many classics, the passion and joy of this group is audible in every song.
One of the unique things about the Freedom Singers' music is the distinctive accents they bring
to their singing. Clearly talented vocalists, the accents lend an original color to the music. The
first song on the album, the classic "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder," illustrates the quality
of their voices, their vocal range and their love for the music. "The Shadow Of My Father's
Wings" by Marty Funderburk and Stephan Hinkle, features the popular Southern Gospel group
Legacy Five along with the Freedom Singers, and their collaboration results in a strong sound
that emphasizes the importance of the lyrics.
With the strong testimony of their miraculous escape from persecution and the God-granted
strength of their music, the Freedom Singers are a forceful, developing group in Southern Gospel
whose story and songs are sure to touch your heart.
