LES BUTLER - Suits Me Fine
Les Butler has had a storied career over the course of his over forty years in Southern Gospel Music. He is a founding member of the Old Time Preachers Quartet, radio host, producer, radio promoter and former Publisher of the Singing News Magazine. Butler’s latest recording, “Suits Me Fine,” features a number of remarkable guest vocalists, including the Williamsons, Mark Wheeler of the Marksmen, Lindsay Huggins and the Les Butler Trio which includes Les, his wife Bev Butler and Robin Leavell.
“Suits Me Fine” features the Singing News Top 20 chart single, “That Old Red Back Hymnal.” Leading off the album, the song features the Williamsons and looks back to the strong messages and great music of the old hymns.
Explaining the title of the album, Butler says, “There’s a lot in the world today that simply doesn’t suit me. The political landscape doesn’t suit me. Liberalism doesn’t suit me. Weak, watered-down preaching, singing and worship don’t suit me. I could go on and on. However, thank God there are still some things I can look to that suit me just fine!” Butler includes songs from the Red Back Hymnal like “Rock Of Ages,” “Heaven’s Jubilee” and “He Set Me Free” in the list of things that suit him, along with other classics like “Power In Prayer” and “God Walks The Dark Hills.” As he says, “Songs that have something to say suit me fine!”
