The Primitive Quartet was originally formed after a fishing trip where its founders sang four-part harmony around a campfire. Forty-five years later, the Primitive Quartet is still going strong, presenting their signature style of Southern Gospel across the country. With around fifty thousand miles per year traveled to one hundred fifty concerts, the Primitive Quartet continues to spread the Gospel message as they celebrate their journey with “That’s Grace: 45th Anniversary.”
The group’s website describes their sound as “traditional mountain shape note style singing accompanied by acoustical instruments including the mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitars and acoustic bass.” As fans know, this description doesn’t do justice to the skillful musicianship of the group on this recording, consisting of Larry Riddle, Reagan Riddle, Mike Riddle, Randy Fox, Jeff Tolbert, and David Johnson.
With songs like “The Next Time He Comes,” “The Next Time You See Me” and the instrumental “I’ve Got That Old Time Religion In My Heart,” this album is filled with engaging, entertaining music from this classic group. Join the Primitive Quartet as they mark another milestone with their new album, “That’s Grace: 45th Anniversary.”
